Lysekil

Throughout the ages Lysekil has lived from the sea. The heyday of the herring industry meant work for many people and golden era for some. Lysekil become northern Bohuslän´s biggest fishing village and the first factories soon arose – canneries, salting houses and coopers. Lysekils history as a bathing resort began 1846 when Consul Mollén built the first spa establishment in the town

The environs of Stångenäset north of Lysekil are a fjord landscape and a lively industrial and agricultural region. Many of the region´s major industries and manor houses are located here.
